Ok, let me give you a little background here… I never owned one of those fancy phone I was just clearly against that $100 bill all the fancy phones get every months (taking in consideration my phone use is like about a 100 min a month) as much as I’m against paying $20 for snacks at a movie theater. Not that I’m particularly cheap but theses exceed my common sense.
Anyway, to go back to the phone subject, I always resisted the IPhone, first of all because AT&T bad network, I played with one at some point and it was incredibly slow but also because I wanted to be able to sync stuff with my PC… Still it looked overall like a nice little gadget.
Last June, I got corrupted by one of my Co-worker (Thank you Mr. Scott) for the Android EVO and woooww I really love that thing.
First it’s 4g (which was cool since I was travelling to Hawaii (all 4g) a few days after I got it), That I could share Internet through the phone on my laptop for an extra $15 for a whole month (when internet access through the hotel was like $15 a day), it also became super convenient with the GPS thingie, the same day I got it my car’s speedometer died (but the how was able to tell exactly our speed, I was checking it out as a passenger) also while traveling you have all the navigation thing (turn right at kapuhala avenue (or all superlong Hawaiian street names, was funny), also a must have the app yelp to avoid crappy touristy activities, fring, where you can use skype, msn, yahoo (and a bunch of others) and use the little frontal camera for video conferences (the phone have 2 cams), cardio trainer to followup on our training (and upload the results direct on facebook) if you feel like it, foursquare, google sky map, oh and the calendar who sync automatically with google calendar (a big +). The only down side is the battery life (it definitely need to be recharged at least once a day) but I can deal with that.
Also, I feel like it will become incredibly helpful at the next Siggraph or CTN Expo ! Demo reel always accessible and playable as needed !
As about the IPhone, well most folks in my industry have an IPhone but really…as long as it was uber cool when it started, I don’t see the point getting a new one nowadays.
Feel free to agree or disagree ! But if you disagree, you’ll need to bring some real uber awesome points.
